johnson@goldenapple.org Eric Johnson is the Chief Development Officer of the Golden Apple Foundation in Chicago, Illinois, where he has been a staff member since November 2006. Eric is responsible for directing fundraising and outreach efforts for Golden Apple, a nonprofit organization focused on teacher recruitment, preparation, and professional development in Chicago and throughout Illinois. He previously served as the Director of Development & Communications for the Inner-City Teaching Corps in Chicago. Upon graduation from college, Eric served as an AmeriCorps member with City Year in Seattle, in which he led a team of corps members to provide after-school and Saturday programs for middle school youth. He began working in fundraising and development with City Year’s national headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, and spent two years as a Development Associate with City Year Rhode Island in Providence.
Eric serves as a volunteer for several local and national nonprofit organizations including the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN), based in San Francisco, California (board member); the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Chicago (YNPN Chicago) (former board co-chair); the International Contemporary Ensemble (board member); the American; and the Association of Fundraising Professionals Chicago Chapter (AFP Philanthropy Awards luncheon committee member).
Eric is originally from Virginia where he received his B.A. in Sociology from the University of Virginia. Eric is married and he and his wife, Anissa, welcomed their first child and daughter, Ella, in 2009.
