Understanding the New Generation of Parents
Outstanding teachers know how to form strong relationships
with their students, and they know how to interact with their parents and
guardians. This presentation was developed to provide all teachers with a
greater understanding of the “New Generation of Parents.” The PowerPoint
and Summary attachments examine generational cohorts, their shared experiences,
the effects of parents’ experiences on students, and the effects of what’s
going on at home on students. The two
documents also outline how today’s parents contact teachers, how teachers
should respond, including conflict resolution, and the importance of working
with school counselors and support staff.
