The 12th annual Golden Apple 5K Run for Education was held on Sunday November 2 , 2008 in Forest Park, IL. There were 388 runners, including teachers, members of the
Forest and Oak Park communities, local businesses and students of all ages, united to support the Golden Apple mission. The morning ended with awards for race winners, free hot dogs courtesy of Byron's Hot Dogs, along with juice, muffins and coffee from La Bella Bistecca and raffle prizes which included an overnight stay in a Hyatt Skyline Suite. Said one participant: “I attend 5K runs across the city and never before have I seen such a tremendous sense of community.”
