Developing the Teaching Excellence Center, a facility to provide world-class professional development to teachers. In addition, the Teaching Excellence Network (TEN) Web site, www.goldenappleTEN.org, offers an on-line professional community where teachers can meet and discuss education issues and methods.
- Recognizes outstanding teachers with the annual Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching to 10 outstanding classroom educators in the Illinois counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake and Will in order to recognize their achievements and utilize their creativity in the Golden Apple Academy of Educators, which conceives, develops and supports programs for teachers to make them more effective in the classroom.
