Golden Apple Awards Nominations

Hundreds of nominations have been received for outstanding teachers in grades Pre-K-3 for the prestigious 2012 Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching! Administrators, teachers, counselors, parents and students were invited to nominate outstanding teachers currently teaching in grades Pre-K through 3 full time at a public or non-public school. Nominations are now closed.

Who is eligible for the Award?

Classroom teachers currently teaching in grades Pre-K through 3 full time at a public or non public school
In Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake and Will counties
Who are committed to continuing to teach in Illinois for at least two years after completing the sabbatical

What do the Award recipients receive?

Induction into the esteemed Golden Apple Academy of Educators
Recognition on a WTTW/11 one-hour TV program
A paid spring semester sabbatical at Northwestern University in Evanston (recipients may take as many courses as they wish in any subjects they choose)
A $3,000 cash award
