Veteran newsman joins Golden Apple as communications director

(Chicago - September 10, 2002) — Bringing a wealth of experience in education, government, public relations, and media, Marshall Rosenthal has joined Golden Apple Foundation, which advances the teaching profession in Illinois, as Director of Communications and Government Relations.


Rosenthal is the former director of communications of Evanston/Skokie School District 65, where he was responsible for the district's internal and external communications, and community, government and media relations.


Previously, during the Edgar Administration, he served as public information officer and communications division manager of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs, the state's lead economic development agency.


During a 25-year career as a Chicago journalist, Rosenthal was honored with two Emmy awards for outstanding achievement as a news producer and writer at NBC Channel 5 News and CBS Channel 2 News. Earlier, he was a reporter for the Chicago Daily News, a correspondent for Rolling Stone, a columnist for the Chicago Reader, and an editor and columnist for The Chicagoan magazine.

Rosenthal earned a Masters in Business Administration at Michigan State University.
He resides in Evanston, where his two children attend public school.
