Archer Daniels Midland Company recently donated $1,000 to The Golden Apple Foundation for Excellence in Teaching. The donation will go toward the Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois Program, which is an innovative teacher recruitment, preparation, and tuition assistance program designed to increase the numbers of resilient, effective, and under-represented (African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Multi-racial, and Native American) teachers for students in Illinois' most educationally and economically disadvantaged schools.
”Funds from the Archer Daniels Midland Company are vital to sustaining our Scholars of Illinois Program” said Dominic Belmonte, President & CEO of the Golden Apple Foundation. “We are grateful for the investment this company has made in the future educators within Illinois.”
The mission of the Golden Apple Foundation is to inspire, develop and support teacher excellence in Illinois, especially in schools of need. Because the critical contributor to student achievement is the quality of the teacher in the classroom, Golden Apple provides exceptional teacher preparation for teachers at all stages of their careers. Through our innovative programs offering method, resource and mentorship, we work to transform teachers and teaching, enriching both student and teacher lives. Sine 1989, we have prepared over 1,700 teachers to serve in schools of need and our teachers impact over 30,000 students per year.
The donation was given through ADM Cares. ADM Cares is a social investment program that directs funds to initiatives and organizations that drive meaningful social, economic and environmental progress worldwide. The program comprises three distinct focus areas: supporting the responsible development of agriculture, improving the quality of life in ADM communities and fostering employee giving and volunteer activities.
